Ingredients

  • 1 prepared 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped green onions
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter for greasing dish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease the pie dish with butter. Place the pie crust into the dish and press gently so it fits the edges well.

Cook the Sausage

  • Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned. Break it into small pieces with a spatula. Cook about 6–7 minutes.

Drain the Sausage

  • Once the sausage is cooked, remove it from the pan. Place it on a plate lined with paper towels. This removes extra grease and keeps the quiche light.

Prepare the Egg Mixture

  • In a large bowl, crack the eggs. Add milk and heavy cream. Whisk until smooth and well combined. This mixture creates the creamy base for the quiche.

Add Seasonings

  • Add salt, black pepper and garlic powder to the egg mixture. Stir well so the seasoning spreads evenly throughout the filling.

Assemble the Filling

  • Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the pie crust. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions over the sausage layer.

Pour the Egg Mixture

  • Slowly pour the egg mixture over the sausage and cheese. Make sure the filling spreads evenly throughout the pie crust.

Bake the Quiche

  • Place the quiche in the oven. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the center is set and the top becomes golden.

Cool and Serve

  • Remove the quiche from the oven. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps the filling set and makes slicing easier.

Notes

  • Use a high-quality sausage for the best flavor.
  • Pre-cook the crust for 5 minutes if you like a crisp bottom.
  • Do not overfill the crust with egg mixture.
  • Let the quiche rest before cutting.
  • Add spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • Freshly shredded cheese melts better than packaged cheese.
  • Bake on the middle rack for even cooking.
