Ingredients
  

  • Chicken legs – 10 pieces
  • Soy sauce – 1/2 cup
  • Honey – 1/3 cup
  • Brown sugar – 1/4 cup
  • Garlic – 4 cloves minced
  • Ginger – 1 teaspoon grated
  • Ketchup – 1/4 cup
  • Vinegar – 2 tablespoons
  • Black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil – 1 tablespoon

Prepare the chicken

  • Wash the chicken legs and pat them dry using paper towels. Dry chicken helps the sauce stick better. Place them on a tray and keep them ready for seasoning.

Make the sticky sauce

  • Take a saucepan and add soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, garlic and ginger. Cook on low heat for 5 minutes. Stir until smooth and slightly thick.

Season the chicken

  • Place chicken legs in a large bowl. Add salt, black pepper and olive oil. Mix well so every piece is coated evenly. This step builds a good base flavor.

Coat with sauce

  • Pour half of the sticky sauce over the chicken. Mix well using your hands or spoon. Make sure each piece is fully coated with the sauce.

Arrange for baking

  • Line a baking tray with foil or parchment paper. Place chicken legs in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the tray. This helps even cooking and better texture.

Bake the chicken

  • Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake chicken for 25 minutes. Take it out and brush more sauce on top. Return to oven and bake for another 20 minutes.

Final glaze

  • In the last 5 minutes, brush the remaining sauce on the chicken. This creates a thick sticky glaze. The surface will look shiny and rich.

Rest and serve
