Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 box 3 oz strawberry gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 1 tub 8 oz whipped topping
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar optional

Instructions

Prepare the Cake Batter

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, mix the cake mix, eggs, water and oil. Use a whisk or mixer until the batter becomes smooth.

Bake the Cake

  • Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 baking pan. Spread it evenly with a spatula. Bake the cake for about 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cake

  • Remove the cake from the oven and place it on a cooling rack. Let it cool for about fifteen minutes. The cake should still be slightly warm.

Poke the Holes

  • Use a fork or wooden skewer to poke holes across the entire cake surface. Space the holes about one inch apart. These holes will hold the strawberry gelatin.

Prepare the Strawberry Gelatin

  • In a bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in one cup of boiling water. Stir well until completely dissolved. Add half a cup of cold water and mix again.

Pour Gelatin Over Cake

  • Slowly pour the prepared gelatin mixture over the cake. Make sure it flows into the holes. This step helps the cake absorb the strawberry flavor.

Chill the Cake

  • Place the cake in the refrigerator for at least two hours. Chilling helps the gelatin set and makes the cake moist and flavorful.

Add the Whipped Topping

  • Spread the whipped topping evenly over the chilled cake. Use a spatula to smooth the surface. This creamy layer balances the fruity flavor.

Add Fresh Strawberries

  • Arrange the sliced strawberries over the whipped topping. You can sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top for extra sweetness and decoration.

Slice and Serve

  • Cut the cake into squares and serve cold. Each slice will show beautiful strawberry lines inside the cake. Enjoy this light and delicious dessert.

Notes

  • Let the cake cool slightly before adding gelatin. Hot cake may break.
  • Use a skewer for deeper holes so the gelatin spreads well.
  • Chill the cake for at least two hours for best texture.
  • Fresh strawberries make the dessert look colorful and fresh.
  • Add extra whipped topping if you prefer a creamier dessert.
  • Use strawberry cake mix instead of white for stronger flavor.
