Ingredients

  • 12 ounces spaghetti pasta
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes 28 ounces
  • 1 can tomato sauce 15 ounces
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Boil the Pasta

  • Fill a large pot with water. Add salt and bring it to a boil. Cook the spaghetti until tender. Drain the pasta and set it aside carefully.

Cook the Ground Turkey

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey. Break it apart with a spoon. Cook until the turkey turns brown completely.

Add the Vegetables

  • Add diced onion and chopped bell pepper into the skillet. Stir well for several minutes. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant and soft but not burned.

Build the Tomato Sauce

  • Pour crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce into the skillet. Add tomato paste and stir until smooth. The sauce should look rich, thick, and evenly combined.

Season the Sauce

  • Add Italian seasoning, oregano, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and sugar. Stir everything well. Let the sauce simmer gently for about twenty minutes until flavorful and thick.

Combine Pasta and Sauce

  • Add cooked spaghetti into the skillet with the sauce. Toss everything carefully until the pasta is fully coated. Let it cook together for two extra minutes.

Finish and Serve

  • Sprinkle fresh parsley and Parmesan cheese over the pasta. Serve the turkey spaghetti warm with extra cheese if desired. Enjoy every comforting and savory bite.
