Ingredients

  • Milk – ¾ cup
  • Unsalted butter – 4 tablespoons melted
  • Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
  • Yellow food coloring – a few drops

Instructions
 

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Stir well to combine evenly.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, vanilla and food coloring until smooth.

Make the Dough

  • Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients. Mix gently until a soft dough forms.

Rest the Dough

  • Cover the dough and rest for five minutes. This helps the donuts stay tender.

Roll and Cut

  • Roll dough on a floured surface. Cut donut shapes using a cutter.

Heat the Oil

  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for safe and even frying.

Fry the Donuts

  • Fry donuts for one minute per side. Turn once until golden and puffed.

Drain and Cool

  • Remove donuts with slotted spoon. Drain on paper towels before serving.
