Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Food coloring pastel colors like pink, yellow, green
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for coating

Instructions

Mix the Wet Ingredients

  • Take a mixing bowl. Add butter and sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract. Mix again until smooth and creamy. This helps create a soft cookie texture.

Add Dry Ingredients

  • Add flour, baking powder and salt into the bowl. Mix slowly until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix the dough. Keep it smooth and soft.

Divide and Color the Dough

  • Divide the dough into small portions. Add different food colors to each portion. Mix gently until colors are even. Use soft pastel shades for a spring look.

Chill the Dough

  • Cover the dough and place it in the fridge. Chill for 30 minutes. This step helps the dough firm up. It makes rolling easier later.

Shape the Cookies

  • Take small portions of dough. Roll them into small balls using your hands. Keep them equal in size. This helps even baking.

Coat with Powdered Sugar

  • Roll each dough ball in powdered sugar. Coat them fully. This gives the crinkle effect while baking. Make sure they are well covered.

Bake the Cookies

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Place cookies on a lined tray. Keep space between them. Bake for 10–12 minutes until cracks appear on top.

Cool and Serve

  • Remove cookies from oven. Let them cool on a rack. They will become soft and chewy. Serve fresh and enjoy the taste of spring.

Notes

  • Chill the dough for better shape and texture
  • Use gel food colors for brighter results
  • Do not overbake to keep cookies soft
  • Roll evenly sized balls for even baking
  • Coat well with powdered sugar for perfect cracks
