Ingredients

  • Chicken wings – 2 pounds
  • Coca-Cola – 1½ cups
  • Soy sauce – ¼ cup
  • Ketchup – ¼ cup
  • Brown sugar – ⅓ cup
  • Garlic – 4 cloves minced
  • Ginger – 1 teaspoon grated
  • Black pepper – ½ teaspoon
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon
  • Cornstarch – 1 tablespoon
  • Water – 2 tablespoons

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper. This helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup easy.

Prepare the Chicken Wings

  • Wash the chicken wings and pat them dry. Dry wings become crispier. Place wings in a large bowl and set aside.

Make the Sauce

  • In a saucepan, add Coca-Cola, soy sauce, ketchup and brown sugar. Add garlic, ginger, salt and pepper. Whisk well until mixed.

Cook the Sauce

  • Place the saucepan on medium heat. Bring the sauce to a gentle boil. Let it simmer for 15 minutes. Stir often until slightly thick.

Thicken the Sauce

  • Mix cornstarch with water in a small bowl. Add it to the sauce. Stir well. Cook two more minutes until sauce becomes glossy.

Coat the Wings

  • Pour half of the sauce over the chicken wings. Toss well until each wing is coated evenly with the sticky sauce.

Bake the Wings

  • Place wings on the prepared baking tray. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25 minutes. Turn wings halfway for even cooking.

Add More Sauce

  • Remove wings from oven. Brush remaining sauce over wings. This adds more flavor and shine.

Final Bake

  • Return wings to oven. Bake another 15 minutes. The wings should look dark, sticky, and caramelized.

Rest and Serve

  • Remove wings from oven. Let them rest five minutes. Serve warm and enjoy sticky goodness.

Notes

  • Dry wings well before baking.
  • Use full sugar Coca-Cola for best glaze.
  • Turn wings for even color.
  • Do not overcrowd the tray.
  • Broil for two minutes for extra stickiness.
