  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

Gather all spices first

  • Measure each spice carefully. Use dry measuring spoons. Make sure spices are fresh for best flavor.

Add spices to a bowl

  • Put chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper into a bowl.

Mix everything well

  • Use a small whisk or spoon. Stir until the color looks even. No spice lumps should remain.

Taste and adjust

  • Taste a tiny pinch. Add more salt or chili powder if needed.

Store the seasoning

  • Pour the mix into an airtight jar. Close the lid tightly. Label with the date.

Use when cooking

  • Use about two tablespoons per pound of meat. Add while cooking for best flavor.

Notes

  • Use smoked paprika for a strong flavor.
  • Change chili powder to make it mild or hot.
  • Keep in a dry place for longer use.
  • Make a bigger batch for busy days.
  • Add a little sugar for balance if you like.
