- 4 cups corn fresh, frozen, or canned – about 600 g
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter half stick, about 57 g
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon sugar optional
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped (optional for garnish)
Step 1. Prepare the Corn:
Fresh Corn: If using fresh corn, shuck the corn and remove the kernels by cutting them off the cob with a sharp knife. Set aside.
Frozen Corn: If using frozen corn, measure out 4 cups and set aside.
Canned Corn: If using canned corn, drain and measure out 4 cups. Set aside.
Step 2. Cook the Corn:
Fill a sizable pot with water and bring it to a rapid boil over high heat.
Add the corn and cook until tender. This should take about 5 minutes for fresh or frozen corn and 2-3 minutes for canned corn.
Once cooked, drain the corn using a strainer.
Step 3. Melt the Butter:
In a large bowl, add the unsalted butter.
While the corn is still hot, add it to the bowl with the butter.
Stir until the butter is completely melted and coats all the corn.
Step 4. Season the Corn:
Add the salt, black pepper, and sugar (if using) to the corn.
Stir well to ensure all the corn is evenly seasoned.
Step 5. Optional Garnish:
- Use Quality Butter: Good butter makes a big difference.
- Don’t Overcook: Cook the corn until just tender.
- Season Well: Salt and pepper enhance the flavors.
- Add Herbs: Fresh herbs like parsley add a nice touch.
- Use Fresh Corn: If possible, fresh corn tastes the best.
