Ingredients

  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup or 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 lime cut into wedges
  • 6 –8 fresh mint leaves
  • Club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • Extra mint sprig for garnish

Instructions

Muddle the mint and lime

  • Place mint leaves and lime wedges in a glass. Gently muddle with a muddler or spoon to release juices and aroma.

Add sugar

  • Add simple syrup or granulated sugar to the muddled mint and lime. Stir slightly to mix sugar with lime juice.

Add ice

  • Fill the glass with ice cubes. This chills the drink and helps balance the flavors of lime and mint.

Pour the rum

  • Add 2 ounces of white rum over ice. Stir gently to mix rum with muddled mint, lime, and sugar.

Top with club soda

  • Add club soda or sparkling water to fill the glass. Stir gently to combine without losing carbonation.

Garnish the drink

  • Add a sprig of fresh mint on top for aroma. Optional: garnish with a lime wedge for extra color and flavor.

Serve immediately

  • Serve the Traditional Cuban Mojito Cocktail cold. Sip slowly and enjoy the refreshing, minty and tangy flavors.

Notes

  • Use fresh mint for best flavor and aroma
  • Do not over-muddle mint to avoid bitterness
  • Adjust sugar to taste for a sweeter or tart drink
  • Use freshly squeezed lime juice for best freshness
  • Serve immediately over ice for optimal refreshment
