Ingredients

  • ½ cup hot sauce like Frank’s RedHot
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon sugar optional, balances heat

Instructions

Melt the Butter

  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir gently to prevent burning. Use unsalted butter for the best flavor balance.

Add Hot Sauce

  • Pour hot sauce into the melted butter. Stir gently to combine. The sauce will start to thicken slightly as it heats.

Add Spices

  • Add cayenne pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika and salt to the pan. Stir constantly so the spices mix evenly.

Add Vinegar

  • Pour in white vinegar. Stir well to combine. This adds tanginess and balances the intense heat from the cayenne.

Optional Sugar

  • Add sugar if you want a slightly sweeter, milder sauce. Stir until fully dissolved. Taste and adjust spice level if needed.

Simmer the Sauce

  • Simmer the sauce over low heat for 2–3 minutes. Stir occasionally. This helps flavors blend and gives the sauce a smooth texture.

Coat the Wings

  • Remove the sauce from heat. Toss freshly cooked or fried wings in the sauce until evenly coated. Serve immediately for best flavor.

Notes

  • Use fresh butter for a richer flavor.
  • Adjust cayenne for preferred heat level.
  • Stir constantly to avoid burning.
  • Serve immediately for best taste and heat.
  • You can store leftover sauce in an airtight container.
