Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons winter sprinkles or crushed candy optional

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper. This helps the cookies bake evenly and not stick.

Mix the Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir well and set aside. This keeps your cookies light and fluffy.

Beat the Butter and Sugar

  • In another bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat until smooth and creamy. This step gives your cookies a sweet and rich flavor.

Add Eggs and Vanilla

  • Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Beat again until everything is well mixed. This makes your cookies soft and moist.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

  • Add the dry ingredients slowly to the wet mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.

Add Chocolate and Sprinkles

  • Add both chocolate chips and any winter sprinkles or candy. Mix them gently into the dough. Each bite will have chocolate goodness and winter sparkle.

Shape the Cookies

  • Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop dough balls onto the baking tray. Leave space between each cookie as they will spread.

Bake the Cookies

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are golden brown. The centers should look soft. They will set as they cool.

Cool and Enjoy

  • Let the cookies cool on the tray for 5 minutes. Then move them to a cooling rack. Enjoy warm with milk or hot cocoa.

Notes

  • Use melted butter for chewy cookies.
  • Do not overmix the dough.
  • Add more white chocolate for extra sweetness.
  • Chill the dough for 15 minutes before baking if you want thicker cookies.
  • Decorate with snowflake sprinkles for a winter look.
