Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat cut into cubes
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 4 carrots sliced
  • 3 potatoes diced
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 cup peas

Instructions

Brown the Beef

  • Heat oil in a pot. Add beef cubes and cook until all sides turn brown and have nice color.

Add the Onions

  • Add chopped onions to the pot. Stir well until onions turn soft and smell sweet and rich.

Add the Garlic

  • Put garlic into the pot. Cook for one minute so it releases its strong and warm aroma fully.

Add the Carrots

  • Add sliced carrots. Stir gently so they mix well with the beef and onions inside the hot pot.

Add the Potatoes

  • Put the diced potatoes. Mix everything so the veggies sit with the beef and soak flavor.

Pour the Broth

  • Add beef broth to the pot. Stir gently so the liquid covers the beef and veggies completely.

Add the Tomato Sauce

  • Pour in tomato sauce. It gives the stew deep color and a rich, cozy flavor everyone enjoys.

Add Water

  • Add water to thin the stew a little. This helps all ingredients cook evenly and stay soft.

Season the Stew

  • Add salt, pepper, paprika, thyme, rosemary, and bay leaves. Stir to blend strong flavors well.

Simmer Gently

  • Reduce heat. Cover the pot and let the stew cook slow for ninety minutes until beef turns soft.

Add the Peas

  • Add peas in the last ten minutes. This keeps them bright green and fresh inside the stew.

Remove Bay Leaves

  • Before serving, take out the bay leaves. They add flavor but should never be eaten directly.

Stir the Stew

  • Use a wooden spoon to stir well. This spreads the thick broth and flavors evenly for serving.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the stew. Add more salt or pepper if needed to match your taste and make flavor stronger.

Serve in Cauldrons

  • Pour stew into small black bowls or mini cauldrons for a fun witch look perfect for Halloween.

  • Use good beef for soft texture.
