Ingredients

  • 12 ounces linguine pasta
  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

Cook the linguine

  • Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook linguine until al dente, then drain and set aside.

Prepare the shrimp

  • Pat shrimp dry and season lightly with salt and pepper. This ensures they cook evenly and stay juicy.

Heat the skillet

  • Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Melt completely before adding garlic.

Sauté the garlic

  • Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook 1–2 minutes until fragrant, careful not to burn the garlic.

Cook the shrimp

  • Add shrimp to the skillet. Cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink and fully cooked. Remove and set aside.

Make the sauce

  • Pour white wine or chicken broth into the skillet. Stir and simmer 2–3 minutes to reduce slightly.

Add lemon flavor

  • Add lemon juice and zest. Stir well to combine with butter and garlic for a bright, fresh sauce.

Combine pasta and sauce

  • Add cooked linguine to the skillet. Toss to coat noodles evenly with the garlic, butter, and lemon sauce.

Return shrimp to skillet

  • Add shrimp back to the pasta. Stir gently to combine and heat everything through for perfect texture.

Garnish and serve

  • Sprinkle fresh parsley and grated Parmesan on top. Serve immediately while warm for the best flavors.

Notes

  • Use fresh shrimp for best flavor
  • Do not overcook shrimp or they become rubbery
  • Reserve a little pasta water for a smoother sauce
  • Use freshly squeezed lemon juice and zest
  • Add red pepper flakes for mild heat
  • Serve immediately for best taste
