Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 1/2 cups milk whole or plant-based
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • Ice cubes for iced version

Instructions

Prepare the Matcha

  • Add matcha powder into a small bowl. Pour hot water over it. Whisk well until smooth and no lumps remain.

Heat the Milk

  • Pour milk into a saucepan. Heat on low flame. Do not boil. Warm milk gives a smooth texture.

Add Sweetener

  • Add sugar or honey into the warm milk. Stir well until it dissolves completely. Adjust sweetness to your taste.

Combine Matcha and Milk

  • Pour the prepared matcha into the milk. Stir gently until fully combined. The color should become light green.
  • Matcha powder gives the drink its green color and unique taste. Milk makes it creamy and smooth.

Add Flavor

  • Add vanilla extract if you like. This step adds a mild sweet aroma to the drink.

Strain if Needed

  • If you see any lumps, strain the tea before serving. This makes it extra smooth.

Serve Hot

  • Pour into cups and serve warm. Enjoy the creamy and calming flavor.

Make Iced Version

  • Let the tea cool slightly. Pour over ice cubes in a glass. Stir and enjoy cold.

Notes

  • Use high-quality matcha powder

  • Do not boil the milk
  • Adjust sweetness as needed
  • Use plant-based milk if preferred
