Ingredients

  • 1 refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup fresh asparagus chopped
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley

Instructions

Prepare the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the oven rack in the center position. Lightly grease a pie dish to prevent sticking during baking.

Prepare the Pie Crust

  • Place the pie crust into the pie dish carefully. Press it gently against the sides. Trim extra dough from the edges for a neat finish.

Cook the Vegetables

  • Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and asparagus. Cook for about five minutes until soft but still slightly crisp.

Make the Egg Mixture

  • Crack eggs into a large bowl. Add heavy cream and milk. Whisk everything until smooth and creamy without lumps remaining in the mixture.

Add Seasonings

  • Mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder and parsley into the egg mixture. Stir well so the flavors spread evenly throughout the filling.

Add the Cheese

  • Add Swiss cheese and cheddar cheese into the bowl. Stir gently until all cheese is coated with the creamy egg mixture evenly.

Fill the Crust

  • Spread the cooked asparagus and onions across the pie crust. Pour the egg and cheese mixture carefully over the vegetables.

Bake the Quiche

  • Place the quiche on a baking sheet. Bake for about 40 minutes until the center looks firm and the top becomes golden brown.

Cool Before Serving

  • Remove the quiche from the oven carefully. Let it cool for at least ten minutes before slicing. This helps the filling set properly.

Notes

  • Use fresh asparagus for the best flavor and texture.
  • Do not overcook the vegetables before baking.
  • Let the quiche rest before cutting slices.
  • Use a baking sheet to catch spills easily.
  • Add bacon or ham for extra flavor.
  • Shred your own cheese for smoother melting.
  • Cover crust edges with foil if browning too quickly.
