  • Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon optional for thickening
  • Water: 2 tablespoons for cornstarch slurry

Instructions
  

Prepare the cube steak

  • Pat the cube steak dry using paper towels. This helps remove extra moisture. It also allows the meat to absorb flavors better during slow cooking. Place it neatly in the crock pot.

Add onions and seasoning

  • Add sliced onions over the cube steak. Sprinkle onion soup mix evenly on top. This gives a deep savory flavor. The onions also add natural sweetness while cooking slowly.

Add creamy base

  • Pour cream of mushroom soup over the meat. Spread it gently using a spoon. This will form the base of the rich and creamy gravy during cooking.

Pour beef broth

  • Add beef broth slowly into the crock pot. This helps thin the sauce slightly at the start. It will later turn into a thick and flavorful gravy.

Season everything

  • Sprinkle garlic powder and black pepper on top. Do not stir too much. The slow cooker will blend all flavors together naturally while cooking.

Slow cook the steak
