Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • Powdered sugar for garnish optional

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your cake pan with butter or cooking spray. Dust lightly with flour to prevent sticking.

Cream Butter and Sugar

  • In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter and sugar. Use a whisk or mixer to beat until light and fluffy. This will help make a soft cake texture.

Add Eggs and Vanilla

  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract for extra flavor. Ensure everything is combined smoothly.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Whisk to mix evenly. This ensures the cake rises uniformly and stays tender.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

  • Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture gradually. Alternate with milk for a smooth batter. Mix gently with a spatula until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

Pour Batter into Pan

  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Smooth the top with a spatula. Tap the pan gently to remove air bubbles.

Bake the Cake

  • Place the pan in the preheated oven. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Check near the end to avoid overbaking.

Cool and Serve

  • Remove the cake from the oven. Let it cool for 10–15 minutes in the pan. Transfer to a cooling rack if desired. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
